I bought this LE1600 slate, no software installed. The only thing that appears on power on is 'Operating system not found'. I have a standalone copy of Win XP tablet but I have no recovery CDs.

I tried to reinstall the software via an external USB-DVD Rom but the computer would not recognize the drive. I even bought an original motion computing external USB DVD ROM but that did not help either. I do not know how to install an OS on this slate, do I have to have original recovery CDs or is there something else I can do other than returning this slate to the seller. I really like it and would like to keep it but I have done everything I could at no avail.

Please help and advise. I bought this LE1600 slate, no software installed. The only thing that appears on power on is 'Operating system not found'. I have a standalone copy of Win XP tablet but I have no recovery CDs.

Try this 1) Boot your computer and enter the Bios configuration. In the boot section make sure that boot from USB (CD and/or USB Flash) is enabled and is before the HDD in the list. 2) Then try booting with your CD/DVD. If that doesnt work then 1) Google on how to create a bootable USB Flash drive. These drives are cheap.
