What works Wine version 1.3.24 made some improvements with running the software. The blank screen after the program startup is still happening. When the blank screen comes up, sim.exe can be run and the program will continue. It is best to set up the Applications setting for the WINE Configuration for SH2.exe. Set graphics to 640x480 and leave the check box for the cursor to stay inside the box blank. You will need this to move outside to load sim.exe from the sim folder when the blank screen comes up. Next set up a WINE Configuration for sim.exe.
Set the graphics up for 640x480 and this time check the box for the cursor to stay inside the box. This I think is necessary with Wine 1.3.24 as the cursor control seems to not work well. Ford falcon ef manual. I am looking into this more. What does not I do have problems with the cursor. The game uses a TGA format file for the cursor and the control is not very stable. Some audio issues to work out.
I will update Wine to version 1.3.25 to see if there is any improvement. The hardest part to deal with is the cursor so I am looking into it to see if there is a WINE issue Applications dll that I need to run. Older versions of Wine do not work as well as 1.3.24, I could not get the software to run at all after the install on older versions. I have not upgraded DirectX from whatever is in the wine software. Older versions of wine rendered the software inoperable.

I can actually run it now. It still needs a few tweaks. The software also uses Quicktime. I get the same results with the version that is included with the Silent hunter II software and the most recent upgrade. The blank screen issue does have a work around but I would like to see it work correctly. There seems to be an issue loading the sim.exe after the short movie play at game start up. I had similar issues back in 2002 when I first installed the Silent Hunter II on a XP laptop.
I purchased a new copy of the software (new release) for this install. It has the same version number but seems different. I have also installed the V1.1 upgrade (patch). Back in 2002 may have been a different patch that I loaded.
I do remember betting a file from UbiSoft to address the problem of the blank screen not unloading and the sim.exe running. Workarounds What was not tested Silent hunter II + V1.1 update. Asus EEEPC 900A (Atom processor) 2G ram 32G hard drive. Tested using Leenux Linux V4.01 (ubuntu 10.04 variant).
